Saudi Arabia’s Alfaisal University has acquired a 3D construction printer from Australian company LUYTEN 3D. The new technology will equip students and researchers in the University’s Department of Architectural Engineering with hands-on experience, enabling them to explore the future of construction and drive innovative, sustainable building solutions.
The University of Florida (UF) has acquired one of the most advanced 3D construction printers in the US – COBOD International’s BOD3. This two-story printer, which weighs 27,000 pounds, is the first of COBOD’s third-generation models sold in the US. The printer was shipped to UF in pieces and assembled on campus, where it will be housed in the Weil Hall Structures and Materials Lab within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.
Alquist 3D has entered a newly penned 3D printed construction technology partnership with Aims Community College of Greeley, in Colorado. The Board of Trustees of Aims Community College voted unanimously to approve construction of the Aims Workforce Innovation Center (AWIC) on the College’s main campus, at which Alquist 3D will be the master tenant. It will serve as a research and development facility for the company and will also enable the college to train students interested in entering the field of 3D construction printing through an innovative codeveloped curriculum.
Pantheon3D, a Youngstown-based additive manufacturing construction company, has taken delivery of COBOD’s BOD2 3D construction printer at The Ohio State University’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME).
GUtech (The German University of Technology in Oman) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Danish company COBOD to manufacture and ship the first 3D printer for construction to the Sultanate.
A multidisciplinary team from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering has received a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop autonomous, mobile construction 3D printers. Down the line, the researchers hope that their work will untether 3D printers, so to speak, and enable them to build structures with more mobility.
