The technology horizon is changing rapidly, and it’s hard for companies to keep pace with the advancing market; the only way to lead is to produce new and affordable products without compromising quality. Innovation will drive for the next 20 years.
Among the companies that managed to innovate and lead, it’s worth mentioning Kinpo, a Taipei based Taiwanese company founded in 1973. The company started with a LCD calculator. It moved in some years ago with the “da Vinci 3D Printers”, by XYZprinting. The passion for innovation is paying off as the company is now the world’s largest producer of desktop 3D Printers.
New Kinpo Group, a conglomerate making its foray into
The New Kinpo Group(NKG), consists of several subsidiaries like Kinpo Electronics, Cal-Comp Electronics, and XYZprinting with its products ranging from storage devices to 2D printers, wireless devices, 3D printing, power management, health care products, automotive and many emerging technologies. At the end of 2015, NKG reached $7.9 billion in sales with approximately 45,000 employees. XYZprinting, is the world’s largest provider of 3D printers, and accounts for 22 percent of all the world’s shipments, with offices in China, Japan, Korea, Europe and the United States. Kenpo projected revenues for the segment is to the tune of $50M for 2016.
Recently the Low-Cost da Vinci Mini 3D Printer was honored with three awards from Reviewed.com, Tom’s Guide, and TWICE at the Consumer Electronics Show held at San Diego January 13, this year. There’s certainly a lot to be happy about for the management of Kinpo. “The recognition of the da Vinci Mini at CES validates our commitment to driving consumer accessibility in the 3D printing industry,” said Simon Shen, CEO of XYZprinting and New Kinpo Group. “We look forward to continuing to break down the technology barriers in the 3D printing market, by introducing easy-to-use, cost-effective devices, like the da Vinci Mini, that deliver innovative experiences to consumers.”
“We will continue to introduce the world to new categories of technology and new, affordable, high-quality devices that improve lives and help make industry smarter and more efficient,” says New Kinpo Group CEO Simon Shen. “Our goal is to enable the masses to enjoy the benefits of advanced electronics and product designs and to make the most impactful, affordable emerging technologies available to consumers to enhance their lives in every way.” by new Shen certainly means 3D printers.
XYZprinting currently offers three categories of 3D printers namely: Beginners, Plus and Professional.
The beginner category includes da Vinci Jr. 1.0, da Vinci Jr. 1.0w, da Vinci 1.0 and a 3D scanner that often comes in handy. The printers cost $349.95, $399.95, $499.95 and price is $199.95 for the scanner. These printers have an average robust build size of 5.9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches and a resolution of 100 to 400 microns. The first two use PLA filaments whereas the da Vinci 1.0 offers ABS, PLA and Flexible filaments.
These 3D printers use XYZmaker which is a 3D modeling software. Simple shapes can be designed, or more complex geometries could be scanned with any 3D scanner.
We will review soon the Da Vinci 3D Printers and will report on our findings.
