3D Printing Now Plays a Major Role in Dassault Systèmes’ 3D Experience 3D Printing Events

Taking place in different locations throughout the world (including China for manufacturing and Massachussets for Science), Dassault Systèmes’ 3D Experience series of events represents the state of the art of what 3D software can do today for designers, engineers, architects, doctors and anyone who need to run a highly efficient manufacturing operation. The “Design in the Age of Experience” 2017 two-day conference in Milan focused on everything that 3D technologies (including 3D software, VR and AR) can do for innovating shapes and products. Now, more than ever before, however, 3D printing is becoming a main focus of the creative workflow.

Neri Oxman’s 3D printed glass stars at Lexus Yet event for Milan Design Week Consumer Products

Star designer Neri Oxman and the 3D printed glass technology developed at her Mediated Matter Lab in MIT are at the core of the interactive LEXUS YET installation for Milan Design Week 2017. Created by Lexus International as part Salone Del Mobile, the world’s largest design exhibition, the Lexus exhibit is held from April 4th through April 9th, at the La Triennale di Milano, the Design and Art Museum in Parco Sempione – considered the center of Milan Design Week.

AtlanticProCare Launches 3D Printing Program for Custom Prostheses Medical

AtlanticProCare, New England’s leading provider of customized mobility solutions and custom prostheses for amputees, has partnered with several fabricators to test 3D printed prostheses. The Maine based prosthetics supplier is currently working with three 3D printing companies — Extremiti 3D, Create O&P and Standard Cyborg — each of whom have unique offerings based on proprietary software, hardware and materials. AtlanticProCare provides custom created CAD designs for the printers and then tests the outputs. AtlanticProCare is the only prosthetics and orthotics practice in Maine participating.

Aerojet Rocketdyne successfully 3D prints copper assembly for RL10 rocket engine Aerospace

Global aerospace and defense manufacturer Aerojet Rocketdyne successfully hot-fire tested a full-scale, additively manufactured thrust chamber copper assembly for the RL10 rocket engine that was built from a copper alloy using selective laser melting (SLM) technology. Aerojet Rocketdyne is a global leader developing propulsion and energetics solutions for the space, missile defense and strategic systems, tactical systems and armaments areas, in support of domestic and international markets.
