EOS and Under Armour will jointly work to scale Under Armour’s 3D footwear business through the development of advanced laser sintering technology, and leveraging EOS’ expertise in industrialized 3D production, now (once again) generally known as additive manufacturing (AM).
Carbon is introducing a new version of its next-gen 3D printing software that expands its tools to design, engineer and make polymeric parts using Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) technology and resins. With this software release, Carbon offers a variety of tools that enable customers to print parts easily and successfully the first time, optimize supports for material usage, and minimize post-processing. These new software tools are backed by finite element analysis (FEA), a powerful cloud-based computational technique that simulates the forces of DLS.
Stratasys is further advancing the impact and use of 3D printing in medical modeling by signing an agreement with Philips. The agreement includes virtually seamless interfacing and dedicated workflows across Philips IntelliSpace Portal 10 and Stratasys Direct Manufacturing’s parts-on-demand service – allowing a broader range of medical professionals to improve training, research and surgical planning through 3D printing.
Last November 22nd, 2017, the official opening ceremony of the “HONDA MEETS FABLAB” contest took place in the Cenacle Hall of the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo Da Vinci. Local online publication Bowery Boogie reports that the iMakr 3D printing company just shuttered its iMakr NY Allen Street flagship storefront. It had been a three-year jaunt for the London-based company. The iMakr showroom-slash-studio is now headquartered in Brooklyn’s Industry City, and still maintains its e-commerce solution online. Like most 3D print shops, iMakr sold a selection of 3D Printers, filaments, and materials.

The AM industry is unique in many ways but one of those ways is how innovation is not just coming from the very top of the pyramid but also from the base. This young industrial segment is still far from consolidating in the hands of just a few major players as most mature industrial segments have for several decades. We are at the dawn of a new industrial revolution, however a revolution of this magnitude takes decades to complete. The best part in the beginning anything new is the galactic chaos formed by a growing number fragments which will eventually disappear or gravitate toward larger stars and galaxies. On this front there were many good news from formnext 2017.
