Ceramics are deeply embedded as a functional material in human history, dating back to Asia as early as 12,000 BC in clay forms for pots. Industrial ceramic materials date back to the start of the 20th Century, and the 1st industrial revolution when ceramics were used more widely for indoor plumbing, sewer tiles, and bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
