Techmer PM has launched a new high‐speed, high-capacity twin-screw production line specifically designed to produce high‐quality, modified, carbon fiber‐reinforced polymers to support growing demand for 3D printed products.
California-based thermoplastic 3D printing company NXT Factory is unveiling its high-speed Quantum Laser Sintering system, the QLS 350, this week at RAPID + TCT. The 3D printer is reportedly capable of achieving print rates four times faster than other laser sintering system and comparable to HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology.
Inovus Medical has installed a new production level SLS 3D printer from 3D Systems in its manufacturing facility in St Helens, Merseyside. The laser sintering 3D printer enables the company to produce plastic parts with a finish level that rivals that of injection molding, without the expensive upfront cost of tooling and mold production. In addition, the laser sintering process that does not require support structures, thus increasing printer bed utilization and production capacity.
3D Systems is preparing to commercially release its Figure 4 Modular digital manufacturing solution next month. The Figure 4 Modular is part of the company’s Figure 4 platform along with the Figure 4 Standalone and the Figure 4 Production. In addition to announcing the upcoming general release, 3D Systems is also preparing to introduce five new 3D printing materials.
Danish footwear brand ECCO Group is no stranger to innovation, as it has taken the advancement of 3D printing in stride with its footwear production. Most recently, the shoe manufacturer announced its alliance with BASF 3D Printing Solutions and Origin, a San Francisco-based startup known for its Open Additive Manufacturing technology. Through the partnership, ECCO will leverage the new Origin One 3D printer and BASF’s Ultracur3D photopolymer materials to transform footwear production at its R&D facility.
John Hartner, former COO at EnvisionTEC and founder of the Digital Industrialist consultancy firm, is the new CEO at ExOne, one of the first manufacturers of industrial binder jetting systems for both sand and metals. Hartner had joined ExOne as COO in November 2018 and boasts a three-decades-long experience in leading industrial technology companies around the world.

Russian scientists, together with their colleagues from Israel and the United States, plan to send muscular tissue biomaterials to the International Space Station (ISS) in September for a bioprinting experiment. They will be using 3D Bio’s Organ-Aut bioprinter which was sent up to the ISS late last year.
Italian 3D printing company Roboze will be showcasing its Xtreme 3D printer series in the United States for the first time at RAPID + TCT in Detroit from May 20-23. The 3D printer series, which made its debut at Formnext 2018, comprises the ROBOZE One Xtreme and the ROBOZE One+400 Xtreme desktop/production solutions. In addition to presenting its new 3D printing hardware for the first time in the U.S., Roboze has also hinted it will be lifting the veil on some exciting news at the major additive manufacturing event.
