San Franciso startup Origin is the latest company to reveal it has been working on 3D printed nasal swabs for COVID-19 testing. The company recently announced that its 3D printed swab design successfully underwent an initial clinical evaluation for human factors, materials testing and PCR compatibility. The evaluation is being done in collaboration with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), which is also working with a handful of other 3D printing companies in the development and deployment of 3D printed test swabs.
Launcher, a small launch vehicle startup based in New York, has entered into an agreement with NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi to test its additively manufacturing engines. The Space Act Agreement will see Launcher use the Stennis facility’s E-1 test stand to evaluate and test fire its E-2 engine for small launch vehicles.

It has just announced that it has successfully completed a clinical trial for the testing swabs and, along with several of its FDA-registered customers, will begin producing up to 1 million swabs per day using the Envision One cDLM platform.
