Italy-based additive manufacturing service provider BEAMIT has announced the acquisition of stake in PRES-X, a startup specializing in AM post-processing. The investment in PRES-X will enable BEAMIT to expand its own knowledge of AM as well as its offering, strengthening its position in the European AM market.

Since Pre-Hispanic times the cochineal insect has been used as a natural colorant by indigenous peoples from the Americas. For the upcoming Cooper-Hewitt exhibition, Nature by Design: Cochineal, Emerging Objects produced a series of 3D printed objects using this ancient colorant.
France-based 3D printing company Prodways Group is reinforcing its ties to leading materials developers in the additive and industrial chemical sectors. The company announced this week that it has sold multiple selective laser sintering 3D printers to chemical companies BASF and DSM, as well as delivered a ProMaker P1000 system to leading French chemical company, Arkema.
SQ4D has upped the ante in the American construction 3D printing game. The company, which last July unveiled a 500-square-foot home it 3D printed in under 12 hours, has just completed the construction of an even more impressive structure. The new building, 3D printed in just 48 hours (over an eight day period), spans 1,900 square feet and cost less than $6,000 in materials to build.
