SPEE3D Signs Distribution Deal with Infocus for Brazilian Market

Australian company, SPEE3D, designers and manufacturers of kinetic consolidation (cold powder spray) metal 3D printers, continues its global expansion by entering the large Brazilian market. A recent agreement with Infocus Laser Systems, a consolidated and experienced distribution of industrial AM products based in the capital Sao Paulo, led to the establishment of a SPEE3D Brazil presence.

For 22 years the company has focused on facilitating production processes using laser technology. In the last 5 years, Infocus has focused on the Additive Manufacturing (AM) Market and has successfully developed Metal AM markets in Aerospace & Defense, Universities and R&D, Oil & Gas/Energy, Medical and Automotive industries. The company boasts some 200 installed systems to date (between laser cutters and SLM Solutions metal 3D printers) to over 70 clients.

Infocus is led by Welodimer Neustadter Jr. As a technology enthusiast with extensive experience and training in Metal AM, Welodimer’s goal is to support AM businesses in Brasil. Mr. Neustadter says, “SPEE3D’s metal AM process using supersonic jets of metal powder onto a substrate is a fascinating idea. It got my attention as a one-of-a-kind technology to improve the speed & cost at which metal parts can be made. We are excited to take the next step in promoting this technology and its benefits in Brazil”.

The addition of SPEE3D technology means the company can offer its clients expertise in cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM). Infocus will provide the technical sales and after-sales service including installation, training and day-to-day support of SPEE3D machines. The Australian company offers two systems, the original LightSPEE3D (for parts up to 30 cm in diameter) and the larger WarpSPEE3D (for parts up to 1 meter in diameter). 3dpbm Research expects these systems to be priced from $500,000 to over $1 million, however, the much lower cost of cold spray powder and higher productivity makes them more cost-effective than most powder bed or hot powder fed technologies.
