With the 3D printing market in emerging economies set to hit the $4.5 billion mark by 2020 (according to AlliedMarketResearch), there is a rapidly solidifying trend, among the major manufacturers and solution providers in 3D printing, of planting a firm foothold in the nascent markets of these geographies. Companies like 3D Systems, Stratasys, EOS, Autodesk, GE, and the like, are quickly establishing their presence in countries like China, India, UAE, Brazil, by opening national offices to focus on these regions, thus growing beyond the usual channel of regional distributors and re-sellers.
Stratasys Asia Pacific, for one, is doing just that in India. Stepping up their commitment to the sub-continental region, Stratasys recently announced the opening of their new office in Bangalore, India. This is in response to the growing demand for locally available 3D printing solutions in the region. Indeed, with the Indian 3D printer market estimated to grow at a CAGR of 20% between 2014 – 2019 (ResearchandMarkets), the Minnesota- and Israel-based company is primed to serve the surge in demand.
The Bangalore office, slated to open in April, will be equipped with the latest technologies and 3D printing solutions Stratasys has to offer. It will also house a Demo center that will showcase the full-product portfolio, ranging from desktop 3D printers and advanced 3D production systems to a broad matrix of specially engineered 3D printing materials.
In addition, Stratasys has also announced the appointment of Rajiv Bajaj as General Manager, India. Bajaj brings over 18 years of experience in CAD/CAM/PLM solutions sales and product management expertise, having previously held national-level roles at Autodesk, Dassault Systemes & PTC. Speaking about the new appointment, Ido Eylon, General Manager – South Asia & Pacific – Stratasys, said:
“Rajiv is an active thought leader across India. His understanding of the local market and experience is valuable to us as we capture the opportunities in the Indian market, particularly in the manufacturing sector. India is a key focus for Stratasys. With a well-established infrastructure, combined with Rajiv’s leadership, we aim to strengthen our leading position in the local market. We will continue to strive for service excellence for both our channel partners and customers; and I am confident that Rajiv will successfully lead the team to accomplish these goals.”
Beginning this new chapter for Stratasys in India, Bajaj added, “I am excited to work with an excellent team here. Stratasys is a leading player in the 3D printing space and through its innovative technologies and solutions I look forward to expanding its reach across various businesses in the industry in India. 3D printing technology is revolutionizing our world and I expect it to continue transforming the future; I believe Stratasys can enable users in the Indian market to embrace this revolution.”
