British metal additive manufacturing specialist, Renishaw, has opened a $5 million facility in Nuevo León, Mexico, to support its growing customer base. This new 3200 m² site will provide technical support and training in metrology, healthcare, motion control, and additive manufacturing technologies.
“Manufacturing is one of the biggest contributors to Mexico’s economy,” said Fátima Oyervides, Marketing Manager at Renishaw Mexico.
“We originally opened the subsidiary in 2012 and had five employees. Now, to keep up with industry growth in the country, particularly in the automotive and aerospace market, we have grown to a team of 40.”

The new facility features several conference rooms, training rooms, and development labs as well as demonstration areas to showcase the latest metrology equipment, such as the non-contact tool measurement solution, the NC4+ Blue system, and process control applications, including advanced scanning, calibration and gauging systems. Oyervides added:
“As we keep expanding, we will be able to offer more support to local industries. Our facility is not only here to give local support to partners by providing technical help and training; we are also here to educate and support the development of smart manufacturing in Mexico.”
This new site is one of many Renishaw subsidiaries that span across 36 countries. This includes the company’s Innovation Center in Gloucestershire, UK, where Industry recently visited.
Renishaw in Europe
Renishaw has been facilitating the growing additive manufacturing sector with new sites in Europe. Earlier this year, the company opened two new additive manufacturing Solutions Centres, one in Barcelona, Spain, and the other in Torino, Italy, to give local companies access to Renishaw’s equipment and expertise, aiming to create a secure development environment for businesses.
These Solutions Centres are equipped with the RenAM 500Q as well as metrology, finishing and machining equipment required to make a functional part.
