MakerBot Continues 3D Printing’s Mainstream Expansion with Fry’s and Amazon

MakerBot is one of the most recognizable 3D printing brands for mainstream consumers. This could help explain the company’s continued expansion into mainstream venues, which includes last week’s introduction into 39 Home Depot stores and this week’s introduction into 50 Staples stores across the United States. MakerBot’s latest stakes in the mainstream include Fry’s Electronics, where MakerBot 3D printers will be sold, and Amazon.com, where MakerBot 3D printed products themselves will be sold.

In addition to in-store sales, Frys.com will carry MakerBot’s entire printer line: the MakerBot Replicator , the Replicator Mini, the Z18, and the Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printer. Jenny Lawton, acting CEO of MakerBot, said of the partnership, “We are really excited to partner with Fry’s Electronics to bring MakerBot Replicator 3D Printers and Filaments directly to high tech professionals in more retail locations throughout the United States. It’s also a great experience to be able to visit Fry’s and purchase multiple colors of MakerBot Filament when working on a 3D printing project.”
