Finnish 3D printables marketplace Launzer.com is continuing to establish itself as a strong site for 3D printed designs from leading brands. At the end of last year, the company behind Launzer, 3D Online Factory Ltd, announced that it had partnered with Nordic Licensing to sell licensed content from Warner Bros. and ITV Studios Global Entertainment, allowing the company to sell such 3D prints of such notable names as Batman and Looney Tunes. While it introduces globally-recognized names to its storefront, 3D Online Factory Ltd is also making friends locally. The startup has now teamed up with Finnish jewelry company Kalevala Jewelry to bring their jewelry designs to the Launzer.com marketplace.
As one of the largest jewelry manufacturers in northern Europe, Kalevala Jewelry works to craft fine jewelry, while maintaining a focus on Finland. Kalevala attempts to ensure that all of its materials are sourced from Finland, including the use of 100% recycled gold, and produces all of its pieces within the country. Though the company was established all the way back in 1937, Kalevala has kept up to date with its designs and manufacturing practices. Now, the Finnish brand is implementing 3D printing as means of producing end products, through Launzer.
Kalevala Jewelry’s director of manufacturing Terja Pelkonen explains, “We have always been at the forefront of productional jewelry manufacturing by developing and utilizing unique manufacturing methods such as nanotechnology, computer aided ring design and 3D printing as part of our jewelry manufacturing for over 15 years – without forgetting our Finnish handcraft know-how, which we have successfully combined with cutting-edge technology as a functioning ensemble.”
With Launzer, consumers will be able to purchase Kalevala designs for printing through i.materialise. 3D Online Factory CEO Kari Voutila says of the partnership, “We want to be among the leading companies in providing 3D printing and related online services in the world. We are looking for fast growth on global markets by providing consumers and companies selling products a new way to share and experience physical products.”
Launzer may have distinguished itself by selling licensed content, including MTV3′s The Dibidogs and soon the Warner Bros. line, but 3D Online Factory is expanding the marketplace to include more pure design content. Voutila continues, “We are especially happy about this collaboration and of the open-minded approach that Kalevala Jewelry has taken to 3D printing. The way Kalevala Jewelry is bringing their classic designs to Launzer is a great realization of the opportunities in 3D printing, where commonly jewels manufactured in metal can experience a new life in new colors and materials.”
As 3D Online Factory brokers future deals, the company is clearly becoming one to watch out for in the global marketplace space. One can only imagine what sorts of partners the company will add after the launch of its Batman prints this spring.
