EOS, a leading industrial 3D printing Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), has joined the Commonwealth Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM), a Virginia-based applied research centre that bridges the gap between the research performed at universities and the product development performed by companies. CCAM will be one of the first institutions to benefit from an installation of the M 290, the latest Direct Metal Laser Sintering systems (DMLS™) system from EOS.

CCAM offers a unique facility for research and development and the use of joint resources whilst protecting intellectual property. Exclusive among industrial consortia the Centre offers a hub for the most advanced ultra-modern manufacturing procedures available. High profile companies such as Rolls-Royce and Siemens work alongside each another and with academic teams from Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Old Dominion University and Virginia State University.

Joe Moody, president & executive director of CCAM said with zeal: “We are excited about the additional expertise and capability EOS brings to CCAM in one of our key technology focus areas of additive manufacturing.”
