Since 3D Systems announced that Canon Marketing had joined its network of resellers in Japan much excitement has circulated investment sites. Here at 3DPI we get that investors tend to read the investment section on the corporate websites, but investment news is increasingly of service to our readers it seems, so, we aim to keep you posted.
Canon has expanded its offerings to include all of 3D Systems’ advanced manufacturing portfolio — including its direct metal printers. With this bold move, which follows hot on the heels of HP’s announcement that they will be entering the sector in 2014, Canon aims to further growth through business creation and evolve into a service company. Yasuhisa Oba, Executive Officer of Group Executive Industrial Equipment Sales Headquarters, Canon Marketing Japan, said:
“We are honoured to distribute 3D Systems’ leading production printers. 3D Systems is the inventor, pioneer and recognised leader in this field and their reputation is impeccable. The combination of 3D Systems’ cutting edge manufacturing capabilities with Canon’s decades of Industrial Equipment Sales service and applications experience is sure to provide our Japanese customers with the best products and service available on the market today.”
Kevin McAlea, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Advanced Manufacturing, 3D Systems chorused: “Canon Marketing Japan is a trusted and valued provider of industry solutions in Japan, and we are honoured to have our products promoted by them,” said “We are thrilled to bring our direct metal printers to Japan with Canon.”
The deal is the latest in a string of reseller agreements reached by 3D Systems this year: Other partnerships have featured consulting giant Deloitte and IT distributor Synnex. 3D Systems shares rallied after the announcement of the Canon deal and Q3 commentary.
