DiManEx, headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is a company dedicated to optimizing its customers’ supply chains through digitization, and identifying potential savings using 3D printing.
In series A funding the young company, founded in 2015, has raised $2.7 million to extend the product for a fast-growing customer base.
Transforming the supply chain
The self-professed goal of DiManEx is “is to revolutionise manufacturing supply chains the same way e-commerce has transformed retail.” The firm’s strategy to achieve this aim is applied two-fold using cloud-based software.
Firstly, the firm proposes digital stock in place of vast warehouses of spare parts – an initiative under consistent application across the manufacturing industry.
In “Monetizing the Long Tail”, DiManEX explains, “80% of the products [in a warehouse] will be sold only 2 times/year leading to write off, scrapping and waste of materials. So why should you stock products to answer incidental demand at such high cost?”
Complimenting digital stock, the company also enables businesses to identify parts in its existing database that can be produced using additive manufacturing.
DiManEx has proven that by 3D printing just 2% of existing parts, companies can see a 6% increase in their EBITDA.
Additive manufacturing – it’s only the beginning
According to DiManEx, “Funding partners Marisan & Partners BV and La Terza SARL are impressed by what our team has achieved these past two years.”
The company currently serves clients throughout the US and Europe. With the added capitol the firm will be able to extend their catchment area for other strategic markets.
Tibor van Melsem Kocsis, DiManEx co-founder and CEO, comments, “We are convinced that we can change the supply chain universe, making use of the disruptive impact of platform-based digital business.”
“We’ve only seen the beginning of the impact additive manufacturing will have on industrial supply chains across the globe. ”
The digital trend
The DiManEx platform is indicative of a trend within the industry. Working with metal 3D printers EOS, 3YOURMIND offers a similar parts identification platform. For B2B solutions, the SAP Distributed Manufacturing platform seeks to “make 3D printing a seamless part of digital manufacturing.”
