ICON launches Titan, its first commercially available multi-story construction 3D printer Construction 3D Printing

Texas-based ICON opened reservations for Titan, a multi-story robotic construction system the Austin company made available for purchase by builders and construction firms for the first time. The program marks a shift from ICON’s previous model, in which the company operated its own printing technology on behalf of clients. Reservations require a $5,000 deposit, with customer training expected to begin in Q3 2026 and first system deliveries anticipated in early 2027.

Titan is engineered to produce multi-story wall systems at approximately $20 per square foot, which ICON said represents a roughly 40% reduction relative to national industry averages for conventional wall systems. The program bundles robotics hardware, software, proprietary construction materials, architectural services, permitting support, training, and ongoing service into a single offering. ICON said it would provide financing options and that early reservation holders would receive priority access, preferred pricing, and an extended warranty.

A decade of field operations

“I don’t think it will be news to most people that the cost, speed, and quality of conventional construction is simply not delivering what the world needs from the industry right now,” said Jason Ballard, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ICON. “After nearly a decade of research, development, and field operations, we believe it’s time to put these technologies directly into the hands of other builders.”

ICON had completed more than 245 homes and structures across affordable housing, market-rate, military, and commercial projects prior to the Titan launch. The company said it planned to deploy Titan on several projects immediately, including 3D printed homes for the chronically homeless at Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community First! Village, a 35-foot-tall church in Texas designed by Overland Partners, and a 60-home multi-story development in Austin designed by Bjarke Ingels Group.

The first client is Ghost Factory

Ghost Factory, a Texas-based construction platform, was among the first builders to reserve a Titan system. “By integrating Titan machines into our building platform, we gain the ability to stabilize structural costs, strengthen control over our supply chain, and move faster than traditional builders when conditions change,” said Spencer Padgett, Co-Founder of Ghost Factory.

Other early reservation holders were developing plans to rebuild homes in areas affected by the January 2026 fires in California and to expand the attainable housing supply across major U.S. metropolitan areas. Ballard described the broader trajectory of the technology as one in which robotic systems and AI would eventually process and manage the majority of construction activity. “It is clear to me that this is the way to cut the cost and time of construction in half while making homes that more faithfully express the quality, values and hopes of the people who live in them,” he said.
