As one of the long-standing 3D printer OEMs, and the original company to commercialise the DLP 3D printing process under license from Texas Instruments who first developed it, Germany-based envisionTEC has taken significant strides to expand its presence in the US market. The company has just announced two new partnerships that will see its broad range of 3D printers and various accessories distributed across North America courtesy of collaborations with the well-established Elliott Data Systems, and the new-start up Evan covered recently, Becoming3D. envisionTEC looks to be covering a number of bases and diversifying its reseller channels, but with a focus on expertise.
Established for more than 40 years and headquartered in Missouri, US, Elliot Data systems has successfully delivered print solutions including software, hardware and professional services to the corporate, education, industrial, financial, government, healthcare, and retail markets during this time. The belief is that envisionTEC’s 3D printers will complement the existing product lines and offer a natural extension to the capabilities that they offer to new and existing customers. Josh Dunbar, President of Elliott Data Systems, says the company is: “excited to partner with envisionTEC on their innovative and high quality 3D print solutions.”
In contrast, Becoming3D launced earlier this year specifically focused on providing 3D printing design-to-manufacturing solutions. Despite its start-up status, the reputation of the company comes across strong, co-founded by printing industry veteran Grant Sadowski, a Hewlett Packard Elite Partner. The link with 2D printing via HP and the channels into that market could bring forth interesting results for the 3rd dimension in general and envisionTEC in particular with this collaboration. Notably because Becoming 3D’s solutions are not just about 3D printing hardware, they also include financing, consulting, training, repair, and servicing, which the company believes are business critical components that are not normally associated with the purchase of high-end commercial 3D machines. Becoming 3D’s remit is to work within its home territory in the state of Florida.
Grant Sadowski, commenting on the agreement, said: “Brands like Ford, Cartier, and Kraft foods trust envisionTEC 3D printing technology, and now we’re thrilled to offer the strength of EnvisionTEC’s enterprise-class technology, with our methodology, to our customers in the Southeast.”
