Zortrax is going bigger and bolder with the Zortrax M300 Plus. This large-format 3D printer offers a 300x300x300mm build volume, an upgraded extruder, and many other intriguing features. Let’s review what we know so far.

Based out in Poland, the 3D printer manufacturer Zortrax has earned a reputation for creating desktop 3D printers that are both incredibly accessible and capable of producing high-quality prints. The company has found a fair amount of success with the M200 and M300, and offers an entire ecosystem that includes proprietary materials and slicing software.

Now, Zortrax is upgrading one of its flagship 3D printer with the Zortrax M300 Plus. As you can probably infer from the name, this machine offers a large build volume and refined features. The original M300 has been widely recognized as a plug-and-play workhorse 3D printer, and the latest version appears to take that a step further.

Although Zortrax M300 Plus has just been revealed, we already know quite a bit about the Polish 3D printer manufacturer’s latest piece of hardware. In addition to the upgraded desktop 3D printer, Zortrax recently unveiled a desktop resin 3D printer called the Zortrax Inkspire.

Let’s review the features and specs to see how it differs from its predecessor.

Features

The Zortrax M300 Plus utilizes Layer Plastic Deposition (LPD) technology, which is essentially the company’s own spin on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). Like the M300, the latest version also offers a 300x300x300 mm build volume.

Despite offering the same print area, the M300 Plus is packed with a slew of new features that makes it a clear improvement over its predecessor. For starters, Zortrax has redesigned the extruder and nozzle with a new geometry, improving that printer’s handling of flexible materials.

With the latest model, users can operate the M300 Plus via Wi-fi and Ethernet, as well as through USB. Connectivity and printer management both seem to be a major selling point of this machine.

After connecting to Wi-fi, users can manage and monitor the progress of the printer using Zortrax’s slicer software and built-in camera. The Zortrax M300 Plus is also equipped with an intuitive touchscreen display that allows users to preview 3D models and change a variety of printer settings.

When using Zortrax’s range of proprietary materials, the new 3D printer also offers material end detection, meaning that it will automatically pause once the filament spool is running low. While the 3D printer is optimized for Zortrax-branded materials, you can also use third-party 1.75mm filament on the Zortrax M300 Plus.

In addition to the M300 Plus, Zortrax is also releasing an optional HEPA cover and an upgraded version of its Z-SUITE slicer. The HEPA cover is compatible with the M300 and M300 Plus, and is designed to reduce warping, unpleasant odors, and filter out 99 percent of the printer’s emissions.

The latest version of Zortrax’s slicer, called Z-SUITE 2, has a number of improvements as well. Features include intuitive model processing, thin wall detection, multiple infill options, editable supports and more.
