He has also let it be known during his time there that Mcor is \u201ccurrently working with a number of venture capitalists based in Silicon Valley,\u201d according to the independent.ie.  We\u2019re talking about a potential new round of funding for the Irish firm in the region of \u20ac15m, which, according to Conor, will be used for scaling up Mcor\u2019s business.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-21563\" alt=\"Dr. Conor MacCormack Mcor Technologies\" src=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dr.-Conor-MacCormack-1.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dr.-Conor-MacCormack-1.jpg 250w, https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dr.-Conor-MacCormack-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dr.-Conor-MacCormack-1-66x66.jpg 66w, https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dr.-Conor-MacCormack-1-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>He said: &#8220;We&#8217;re still a very small company. But it&#8217;s absolutely flying. We did more business in November and December [2013] than the entire year previous to that. It&#8217;s not a seasonal thing, we just scaled quickly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the reasons that investors are looking at us is because it&#8217;s so much cheaper to run one of our machines than rival colour 3D-printing devices,&#8221; Conor continued. &#8220;There&#8217;s also a much bigger awareness now of 3D printing, partially thanks to consumer and hobbyist machines such as Makerbot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is good news for the company, which has a decidedly different approach and message. It\u2019s also good for the industry making an alternative 3D printing process more accessible to a wider audience.
