In addition to developing tungsten 3D printing with ExOne, the company has also obtained AS9100C certification, allowing rp+m to meet international standards for aerospace manufacturing. Now, the firm has announced an agreement with Germany-based materials supplier H.C. Starck to build up their metal 3D printing business.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the agreement, the partners will work to develop new materials, alloys, and products for 3D printing.  The duo has listed, as an example of their potential collaboration, the 3D printing of a molybdenum or tungsten part for medical imaging equipment (replacing dated lead components).<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37615\" src=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/metal-3D-printing-rp+m-h.c.-starck.png\" alt=\"metal 3D printing rp+m h.c. starck\" width=\"1000\" height=\"329\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Anthony Hughes, President and CTO of rp+m, said of the partnership, <em>&#8220;We are excited to accelerate focused efforts on our technology in refractory metals in BinderJet printing for additive manufacturing with H.C. Starck. This is a unique opportunity to gain access to the global market, advance processing material capabilities and push our technology forward. Our relationship with H.C. Starck will allow us to penetrate the market quickly and drive our strategy.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dmitry Shashkov, Head of H.C. Starck&#8217;s Fabricated Products Division and a member of the executive board, contributed, <em>&#8220;H.C. Starck&#8217;s agreement with rp+m extends our capabilities and puts us on the leading edge to providing components to the medical and security imaging industries. It extends our portfolio with 3D lead-free products for collimators and anti-scatter grids for CT scanners, SPECT and gamma cameras using this latest technology.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The agreement is just one among many of the subtle partnerships taking place between 3D printing firms and material suppliers, solidifying the foundation of metal 3D printing around the globe.
