The history of laser sintering technology is complex, when it comes to patents and it is possible that, in order for Additive Industries to execute their automated metal 3D printing system, they would need access to EOS patents in order to continue without any major roadblocks.  The actual details of the agreement were not disclosed, except to say that Additive Industries is now licensing select EOS patents, with the possibility of expanding that access in the future.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-62001\" src=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/mechanics-metalfab1-metal-3D-printer-from-additive-industries.png\" alt=\"mechanics metalfab1 metal 3D printer from additive industries\" width=\"728\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Daan Kersten, Co-founder and CEO of Additive Industries, says of the agreement, \u201c<em>For Additive Industries, as newcomer to the industrial additive manufacturing market, this partnership is an important step on our journey to take 3D metal printing from lab to fab. Together we can expand this new production technology from the prototyping domain to the factories of the future.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mike Shellabear, Director of IP and Technical Support at EOS, contributed, <em>\u201cWe welcome the patent licence agreement with Additive Industries as it confirms the attractiveness of the AM process for industrial use.
