Image via: Renishaw<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Renishaw measures its business in two segments: metrology, i.e. \u2018the science of measurement\u2019 and healthcare applications, both of which are supported by additive manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additive manufacturing in metrology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The metrology section involves precision engineering of industrial components, and includes metal additive manufacturing as one of the key proponents. From the Chairman\u2019s statement, interim results show:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Revenue in our metrology sector for the first six months was \u00a3227.1m, compared with \u00a3184.9m last year. The Chairman\u2019s statement reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Revenue in our healthcare sector for the first six months was \u00a313.3m, compared with \u00a313.6m last year and there was an operating loss of \u00a36.0m, compared with a loss (restated) of \u00a32.2m for the comparable period last year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Listed in the company\u2019s product range are 3D scanners and CAD software, used for additive dental applications as discussed by <a href=\"\/service\/3d-printing\"> Industry through the company\u2019s integration of a Polygonica software toolkit.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The report also lists a focus on craniomaxillofacial custom-made implants additively manufactured from titanium to reconstruct parts of the skull.<\/p>\n<p>Renishaw\u2019s full interim report can be found on the company\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>We will have more on this story later today.
