That series D funding round granted unicorn status to the Burlington, Massachusetts based enterprise, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valuing the company at over $1 billion<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This article takes a look at several newly announced deals with links to the 3D printing industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fracktal Works Pvt. Ltd raises funding from Hyderabad Angels<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based in India, Fracktal Works has received an undisclosed amount of pre-Series A round from Hyderabad Angels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funding will be used to develop 3D printers, and launch an online service platform called Fractory. In <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an interview with VCCircle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Rohit Asil, co-founder, Fracktal, said, \u201cCustomers can choose to get their parts manufactured from various 3D printing and metal CNC technologies.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>CGTrader closes $2.3 million investment round<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While not focused primarily on 3D printing, 3D model marketplace CGTrader has been active in the wider 3D content creation space since 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dalia Lasaite, CEO and co-founder of CGTrader explains, \u201c3D is becoming the next wave of content towards interactivity and immersion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lasaite\u2019s company has just closed a $2.3 million investment round. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karma Ventures<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was lead investor and CGTrader\u2019s current backers <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intel Capital<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practica Capital<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also participated. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEnabled by technologies such as spatial computing, augmented reality (ARKit, ARCore, AR Studio), virtual reality and WebGL, 3D is becoming the next wave of content towards interactivity and immersion \u2013 moving from text to images to video to 3D. By far, the biggest bottleneck in this market is the high cost of 3D content creation. CGTrader is playing a significant role in reducing the cost as well as empowering developers to create 3D applications much faster and more efficiently,\u201d added Lasaite.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_126194\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-126194\" src=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CGTrader-co-founders-Marius-Kalytis-and-Dalia-Lasaite..jpg\" alt=\"CGTrader co-founders Marius Kalytis and Dalia Lasaite.\" width=\"710\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CGTrader-co-founders-Marius-Kalytis-and-Dalia-Lasaite..jpg 710w, https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CGTrader-co-founders-Marius-Kalytis-and-Dalia-Lasaite.-200x143.jpg 200w, https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CGTrader-co-founders-Marius-Kalytis-and-Dalia-Lasaite.-500x357.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">CGTrader co-founders Marius Kalytis and Dalia Lasaite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Shapr3D raises $1.3M to bring advanced CAD to mobile devices<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2014, Budapest based <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shapr3D<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> began work on an app that would allow Siemens <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parasolid software<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to run on hardware such as the iPad Pro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parasolid is the CAD engine that powers SOLIDWORKS and a number of other major design tools. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a recent <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blog post<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Istv\u00e1n Csanady, founder and CEO, comments, \u201cShapr3D 3.0 is here &#8230; This elevates the product to a new level, especially that it\u2019s still just $150\/year &#8211; not thousands of dollars, and still super easy to use.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financing this work is the latest funding round of $1.3 million. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lead investor was <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">InReach Ventures<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the participation of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lifeline Ventures<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kima Ventures<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and other undisclosed angel investors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ojRwGnxgJ4U\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Cincinnati Incorporated acquires New Valence Robotics<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turning to M&amp;A activity, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cincinnati Incorporated<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CI) has bought New Valence Robotics Corp. (NVBOTS).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2016, CI became a reseller of NVBOTS small-scale 3D printer and rebranded it as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAAM (Small Area Additive Manufacturing), to complement there <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Big Area Additive Manufacturing (BAAM) additive manfacturing systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carey Chen, CI president, CEO, and vice chairman said, \u201cCincinnati Incorporated\u2019s participation in additive manufacturing has been within the large scale arena with BAAM. The Long Island Regional Economic Development Council (LIREDC) has made a $500,000 grant to assist with financing and renovating a new facility at Ronkonkoma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Graphene 3D Lab is focused on the \u201cdevelopment, manufacturing, and marketing of proprietary composites and coatings based on graphene and other advanced materials.\u201d Through their 3D printing division, BlackMagic, the company supplies filament. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking about the Long Island economic development plan Governor Cuomo said, &#8220;These awards are critical to building the foundations for New York&#8217;s future and ensuring that our economic momentum continues.
