Photo via Mass Portal.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Shifting towards Industry 4.0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Founded in 2012, Mass Portal has developed a range of thermoplastic extrusion 3D printers, including its <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">first delta style 3D printer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, filament dryers, and an automated 3D print farm system, Dynasty AMS. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With an open material approach, the Dynasty AMS was created as an adaptable solution for low volume production. It automatically mounts print beds, calibrates 3D printing units, starts and stores print jobs, resulting in limited assistance from an operator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this system in mind, Grinhofs, who served as Mass Portal&#8217;s CEO since 2014, now plans to build a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> next-generation software platform to better manage digital manufacturing workflows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through Grinhofs\u2019 vision, the establishment of the FabControl software platform will <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prepare and run print jobs as well as manage the entire workflow process within a variety of print farm systems. The FabControl platform will  not be exclusive to Mass Portal. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We are looking forward to an open, Industry 4.0 world, where automated, approachable and smart workflows integrate hardware, materials and software from multiple vendors,&#8221; added Grinhofs, the new Founder and CEO of FabControl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The term Industry 4.0 is still controversial, and is an area where real-world experience does not not always tally with executive vision. A recent survey conducted by The Engineer found the majority of respondents felt the buzzword was unhelpful. Thus, automated 3D printing systems, which remove<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> various stages of the 3D printing process<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are significantly useful.
