It\u2019s potential however to work with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cheaper metal feedstock<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and produce higher resolution parts has seen increasing interest from other material categories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tethon 3D aims to advance the DLP technology to make it fully compatible with its <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">proprietary ceramics and metals for 3D printing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Keran Linder, the CEO of Tethon 3D, explains: \u201cBy optimizing a DLP printer for ceramics and metals and formulating our materials specifically for this enhanced printer, the industry can produce stronger and higher resolution ceramic and metal 3D printed parts\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company hopes that the development of their desktop DLP 3D printer will give designers and manufacturers options to 3D print complex ceramic and metal objects in high volumes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technical help from the University of Nebraska\u2019s Department of Mechanical &amp; Materials Engineering will include, engineer Bai Cui, Prahalada Rao, Ph.D.,  a 3D printer hardware expert, and Dr. Cui, an additive manufacturing ceramic expert. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_138328\" style=\"width: 877px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-138328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/download.jpg\" alt=\"A complex ceramic 3D printed object made with Tethon 3D's raisin. In June, Chinese scientists tested <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DLP 3D printed ceramics<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for off-world construction. This month,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Air New Zealand<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> partnered with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zenith Tecnica<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a specialist in titanium 3D printing,  to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3D print metal parts for aircrafts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But metal 3D printing is slowly coming to the desktop. Recently, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Virtual Foundry<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a producer of metal filaments, released <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Filamet<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2122, a metal filament <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that enables FFF\/FDM printer to 3D print metal objects.
