Ltd<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the largest manufacturer and exporter of titanium powder in China, to accelerate <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Titomic Kinetic Fusion<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (TKF).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The TKF process involves <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a titanium cold-spray technique developed by the Australian Government\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CSIRO). This method uses a supersonic gas jet to fire particles at high speed which fuse to a surface on impact. Photo via Titomic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Accelerating the Titomic Kinetic Fusion process<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shaanxi Lasting Titanium Industry, commonly known as Lasting Titanium, has been supplying metal powders for additive manufacturing for the automotive, aerospace, defense, and medical industries for 20 years. The company is also involved in research into rare metal production, smelting, forging, rolling, finishing, physical and chemical analyses, and non-destructive testing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the new partnership with Titomic, Lasting Titanium will enable the cooperative development of new low-cost commercially pure titanium powders for the TKF process &#8211; which uses both spherical and irregular morphology metal powders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The versatility of TKF additive manufacturing process intends to expand production opportunity for Titomic in industries such as building, marine automotive and oil &amp; gas where the application of titanium was previously economically unviable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fbcjX0OnOj8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<b>Titomic and the defense sector<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this year, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Titomic signed a MoU with the TAUV<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a company applying additive manufacturing to applications including smarter armor for defense, law enforcement and civil industry. This  $1.8 million partnership will allow the companies to manufacture Unmanned Armed Vehicles (UAV), soldier systems, and soldier sensors, using 3D printing technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prototype 3D printed ruggedised soldier-enabled UAV<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> created with Titomic\u2019s technology was created and shortlisted for the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Land Forces 2018 Industry Innovation Awards<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an international defense exposition held in Adelaide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to this, Titomic signed a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with shipbuilding company <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fincantieri Australia<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to develop its TKF technology. Through the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Material Science Testing agreement<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Titomic is currently performing kinetic fusion 3D printability tests on an alloy specified by Fincantieri.
