Photo via Hexagon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>AMendate generative design helps MSC focus on additive manufacturing<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MSC was initially founded in 1963, and is considered to be one of the earliest software companies specializing in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">finite element analysis<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FEA) simulation. Hexagon acquired the company in 2017, adding MSC\u2019s CAE software solution to its product portfolio. MSC also offers the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simufact software<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> package, which has a version dedicated to additive manufacturing, as well as other manufacturing processes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, with the latest acquisition of AMendate by Hexagon, MSC is moving away from offering its customers general purpose optimization technologies, and instead aims to provide an \u201cinnovative, purpose built software solution for additive manufacturing\u201d. Photo via Hexagon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>AMendate topology optimization <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AMendate was founded in 2018 by a team of researchers from the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Paderborn<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Direct Manufacturing Research Center<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DMRC) in Germany. Significantly, the DMRC is an industrial\/academic consortium started in 2008 by the likes of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boeing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EOS<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the goal of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">optimizing additive manufacturing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AMendate\u2019s topology optimization software for additive manufacturing has been hotly tipped, having previously been among the winners of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Formnext Start-up Challenge<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as a result of its technology.  Industry also highlighted AMendate as a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">startup to watch<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MUST 2018<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  event in Munich.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most recently it was revealed that AMendate would be presenting its generative design solution<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EMO Hannover 2019<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the 16th to the 21st of September, which aims to highlight  \u201cSmart technologies driving tomorrow\u2019s production.\u201d Furthermore, the topology optimization software was also selected by German machine tool manufacturer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TRUMPF<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to help demonstrate the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">applications of additive manufacturing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for satellites and aircraft at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2019 International Paris Air Show<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subscribe to the <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\/service\/3d-printing\"> Industry newsletter<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the latest news in additive manufacturing.
