German start<\/a>up Print2Taste has launched a low-cost chocolate 3D printer on Kickstart<\/a>er. Called mycusini, the 3D printer is capable of printing a range of 2D and 3D chocolate structures. The Print2Taste team says it has successfully tested the first prototypes of the 3D printer and is seeking funding through Kickstart<\/a>er to scale up production. To date, the crowd funding campaign has surpassed its goal of \u20ac10,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Print2Taste was founded five years ago by a team of \u201cfood<\/a> experts, hardware and software enthusiasts\u201d who set out to produce a food<\/a> 3D printing<\/a> system. In 2015, the start<\/a>up debuted the Procusini system on Kickstart<\/a>er, which was targeted at the professional hospitality and food<\/a> industries.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Throughout the start<\/a>up\u2019s journey, it also had the goal of creating a chocolate 3D printer that would be accessible to consumer<\/a>s. Now, after three years of development, the 3D printer is nearly ready to be used in kitchens all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith our many years of experience in the professional field of 3D food<\/a> printing, we want to make the benefits of this amazing technology available to everybody,\u201d said Eva Schlosser, the \u201cmom\u201d of mycusini. \u201cThat\u2019s why we developed mycusini. With mycusini, consumer<\/a>s will get access to the creative world of 3D Choco printing at a very attractive price.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The 3D printer is designed to be integrated into home kitchens, and has compact dimensions of 190 x 195 x 270 mm. Other features, like accurate positioning, a simple cart<\/a>ridge system and a quick release extruder, facilitate the printing process and make it accessible. The 3D printer also keeps the chocolate material out of direct contact with the device, making it easier to clean and maintain hygiene.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Print2Taste has put together a library of over 100 3D models\u2014including messages and shapes\u2014which the mycusini can produce from chocolate. The resulting chocolates could make for a personalized garnish, or even a tasteful, edible gift.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though one of the early bird pledge options is no longer available (it was for \u20ac198), the mycusini 3D printer is still available at a discounted price through the Kickstart<\/a>er campaign\u2014start<\/a>ing at \u20ac248. After the crowdfunding, the chocolate 3D printer will be retailed for \u20ac398. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
