Large format metal 3D printing<\/a> company Titomic Limited has been awarded a CoBRAIN grant for its Titomic Europe division as part<\/a> of the European Union\u2019s (EU) Horizon Europe initiative.<\/p>\n

Titomic will receive \u20ac260,000 (~A$400,000) in CoBRAIN funding, to research and develop application<\/a>s of art<\/a>ificial intelligence and machine learning within cold spray application<\/a>s. The outcomes of the research will assist Titomic in optimizing cold spray processes for manufacturing with new and existing materials and metals. The CoBRAIN program will develop novel hard metals for corrosion and wear resistance and validate an integrated computational-experimental material engineering workflow.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the grant funding will further assist Titomic in undertaking research and development to further heighten Titomic\u2019s technological competitive edge. The first tranche of funding is expected to be received in FY23.<\/p>\n

Horizon Europe is the largest EU research program to date, it aims to meet the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals, tackle climate change, and increase the EU\u2019s growth and competitiveness. Horizon Europe has a \u20ac95.5 billion budget and it runs from 2021 to 2027. Horizon Europe is a renewal of Horizon 2020, which ran from 2014 to 2020 and encouraged research and innovation across industry, academia, research, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

This grant comes after recent success Titomic had with the International Part<\/a>ners in Glass Research (IPGR) network, developing and selling a system for the coating of glass moulds that is a breakthrough in automated cold spray by using art<\/a>ificial intelligence to enhance productivity and mitigate operating costs. Titomic hopes to replicate this product development success with CoBRAIN.<\/p>\n
