This is in response to modern industrialization, as windows have been standardized and mass-produced to continually perform at higher levels. Led by YKK Group\u2019s environmental vision 2050 \u2013 \u2018towards a brighter future for nature and humanity\u2019 \u2013 and YKK AP\u2019s purpose \u2013 \u2018we build a better society through architectural products\u2019 \u2013 the project fosters collaborations between multiple companies, creators and specialists working in different fields around the world.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 819px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/c29806daef3cc675.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"545\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Three 3D-printed prototypes attempt to realize windows of the future that are free-formed and natural<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The exhibit\u2019s creative director keita suzuki, of the studio product design center, was joined by takeshi yamamura, a gaud\u00ed researcher and associate professor at the tokyo polytechnic university, in researching the catalan architect\u2019s creative philosophy as well as most notably window designs. The investigation focused ideas for the exhibition on the natural elements of light, air and sound. these principles reaffirmed the concept of re-establishing windows as connectors between humans and nature. Masashi Murakami of emuni served as the project\u2019s graphic designer with takehi yamamura + natalia sanz lavi\u00f1a of YSLA architects creating the installation space.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/c4950136d1380096.png\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 816px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/e77f4d1050317f79.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"816\" height=\"542\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The rotating sun and moon window cascades shadows of different colors depending on sunlight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wow wow-yellow\">THREE 3D-PRINTED WINDOWS OF THE FUTURE<\/h2>\n<p>The sun and moon window is inspired by the operable windows that gaud\u00ed designed for the cripta gaud\u00ed de la colonia g\u00fcell. The prototype\u2019s central rotating axis enables it to be spun freely like a globe. Transparent parts change color in response to sunlight, darkening based on the intensity to block ultraviolet rays. This cascades beautifully colored shadows during the day, similarly seen with stained glass, whilst delicate lighting is drawn in from the moonlight at night. With the outer frame 3D-printed, the design\u2019s wooden inner frame is carved out using a milling machine, paying homage to the days of the famed architect when timber was sculpted by hand.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/737098ab16554d4d.png\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/51e8b35b3081f040.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"544\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The air window\u2019s customizable pores provide a constant ventilation and heat exchange at the same time<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The air window is inspired by the ventilation windows seen in the gaud\u00ed-designed casa batll\u00f3. A gyroid structure is formed using a complex mesh based on butterfly wings, enabling the window to provide constant ventilation. The 3D-printed frame integrates a straw-like tube to circulate warm or cold water to adjust temperature of the air as it enters the room. There are separate openings to control ventilation and temperature independently. The design\u2019s density of pores can be freely customized based on the environmental context and functions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/4a69b518e97cda28.png\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 817px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/11\/916f038f9f75847a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"817\" height=\"873\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The sound window draws the beautiful noises of nature into the room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Inspired by the perforated windows designed by gaud\u00ed for the spires of the sagrada familla, the sound window is designed to enhance the noises of nature. sound is drawn in from the local environment, rather than blocking out, in the aim of better connecting humans with their surrounding environment. In similar fashion to the catalan architect, the design uses shards (trencadis) to evoke an appearance of intricacy. Once such highlight includes a miniature recreation \u2013 40% scale \u2013 of an over three-meter high window at casa batll\u00f3.
