The result is a functional prototype, flexible and resistant to deformation, which is innovative both in terms of customization and for the technologies and material used: carbon fiber-reinforced Windform SP composites.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The customized and revolutionary athletics track shoes (aka spike shoes) were created for Venetian middle-distance runner Miro Buroni. To create Pleko, Miro worked with Diadora for historical analysis and design and CRP Technology for the manufacture of the outsole-midsole and ribbing, through professional <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D print<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ing<\/a> (Powder Bed Fusion process with composite fiber-reinforced polymers) and Windform<sup> <\/sup>SP Carbon fiber filled composite material.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/10\/338a22bbf9234f36.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The creation of Pleko st<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art<\/a>ed with a three-dimensional scan of the athlete\u2019s foot. This step was followed by the bio<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/mechanics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mechanic<\/a>al analysis of the act of running and footing through the 3D foot scan. \u201cWith this mapping\u2014Buroni commented\u2014we were able to model the shoe on the individual\u2019s needs in terms of foot structure and athletic performance. Moreover, scanning and bio<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/mechanics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mechanic<\/a>al analysis allowed us to understand the best placement of the \u2018traction system\u2019 under the outsole, the \u2018pins&#8217;\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When the project was ready to became reality, Buroni decided to use additive manufacturing to build the supporting structure of the Pleko. Thus, he focused on finding a company able to provide professional <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D print<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ing<\/a> service and a material with \u201cstrong characteristics of resistance to bending\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/10\/1891f87ce13e16bf.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The material selection was critical: the results of the investigation on the force transmitted to the track shoes during the track race and the connected requirements confirmed that the success of the project would have depended on the manufacturing material for the outsole, midsole and ribbing. It offers excellent characteristics of resistance to deformation and flexibility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWindform SP\u2014Miro added\u2014guarantees excellent resistance even in very thin thicknesses; this feature allowed me to create spike shoes with a perfect foot envelopment, that facilitates an increase of the comfort and the enhancement of the performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/10\/10fe56716f6ac639.png\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>The p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art<\/a> manufactured in Windform SP<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">CRP Technology manufactured the Pleko\u2019s outsole, midsole, ribs and pins as a single component. Ribs are originated from under the outsole, in correspondence with the lines of maximum effort during the track race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thanks to the ribs, the structure in Windform SP embraces the athlete\u2019s foot \u201clike a cage\u201d, which envelops the foot and facilitates improvements in the running technique. The ribs are responsible for carrying the kinetic <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/energy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energy<\/a> releases from the bio<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/mechanics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mechanic<\/a>al movement during the track race, and preventing its dispersion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The sock-like upper is almost completely detached from the structure and responsible for protecting the foot.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/img.facfox.com\/imgs\/2021\/10\/da3fed360c77c717.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThanks to the pins under the outsole\u2014Miro added\u2014the \u2018cage\u2019 in Windform SP allows the athlete to develop as much strength as possible, without losing <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/energy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energy<\/a>. I positioned the deepest pins in the points of superior pressure of the feet against the ground. I also put smaller studs in other p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art<\/a>s of the outsole: these studs are on an equal basis essential for the stability of the track shoes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Once the structural p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D print<\/a>ed, other tests were carried out on the Pleko.
