Whenever conventional manufacturing methods reach their limit, we use additive manufacturing \u2013 which lets us meet quality standards and comply with production times,\u201d said Matthias Herker, technical project manager at the Audi Metal 3D Printing Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Shifting p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art<\/a> of its tool segment production activities from conventional manufacturing to AM is an important step, highlighting both the quality and reliability of industrial <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D print<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ing<\/a> and the design freedom advantages this production method offers. This is the latest outcome of the longstanding cooperative relationship between Audi and EOS in Ingolstadt.<\/p>\n<p>EOS provided support in the form of technology and know-how before and during the construction of Audi\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D print<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ing<\/a> center back in 2016. Since then, experts from both companies have been making steady progress on the use of AM, and Audi has established an ideal <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/insights\/applications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application<\/a> in the area of hot forming for series <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/automotive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vehicle<\/a>s. The individual additively manufactured tool segments in turn can be up to 400 mm in length and weigh as much as 120 kg.
