While the <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/service\/3d-printing-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3D print<\/a>er is similar to other systems now available in the market \u2013 such as those introduced by Nanoe and Triditive among others \u2013 TIWARI was able to leverage support from ESA to validate four metal and ceramic materials for space and other <a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/insights\/applications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">application<\/a>s.<\/p>\n<p>TIWARI\u2019s process uses thermoplastic filaments that are embedded with p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">art<\/a>icles of the metal or ceramic the p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">art<\/a> is to be made from. Once the printing is finished, the green p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">art<\/a> is put through a thermal treatment to eliminate the plastic, leaving behind a metal or ceramic item.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce this plastic-containing body goes through this treatment then what is left behind is pure metal or ceramic,\u201d explained ESA non-metallic materials and processes engineer Ugo Lafont. \u201cThe result is high-quality p<a href=\"https:\/\/facfox.com\/news\/topics\/art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">art<\/a>s with very good physical properties.
