Sintavia LLC, a specialized additive manufacturing provider for the aerospace, defense and space industries, is expanding its metal AM capability with the acquisition of two additional M400-4 quad-laser 3D printers from German company EOS GmbH. The new metal additive manufacturing systems, which were delivered to Sintavia\u2019s Florida-based facility this month, are the company\u2019s seventh and eighth M400 3D printers.<\/p>\n

Taking the two new systems into account, Sintavia now has 21 industrial 3D printers in operation at its facility. The company also boasts a range of other manufacturing and auxiliary equipment and resources, including a hot isostatic press, vacuum heat treatment furnaces, an industrial CT scanner, wire EDMs, mechanical testing equipment, metallurgical laboratory and a micro powder lab.<\/p>\n

In July, the company also added a new Arcam Q20+ electron beam 3D printer from GE Additive to its fleet. By the end of 2021, it expects to install an additional six to eight large industrial 3D printers at its facility, drastically increasing its production capabilities. The following year, in 2022, it plans to invest in up to 10 new machines.<\/p>\n

The equipment expansion is significant, and demonstrates that Sintavia\u2014as well as AM in aerospace<\/a>\u2014is growing.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we have grown over the past several years, we have shied away from issuing press releases when we acquire new equipment. In a normal year, these announcements are kind of boring. However, this is an unusual year, and we feel it is important to let the industry know that demand for aerospace additive manufacturing is booming,\u201d explained Brian Neff, Sintavia\u2019s CEO. \u201cThe global pandemic has turned the traditional aerospace<\/a> supply chain on its head, creating real opportunities for companies like Sintavia to offer high precision solutions to OEMs worldwide, and this trend underpins our announcement today. The EOS M400-4 is the workhorse of our factory, and we continue to see great results with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
