3D printer manufacturer Mimaki announced its latest full-color inkjet 3D printer 3DUJ-2207 UV inkjet 3D printer. This system is a compact version of its large industrial product 3DUJ-553. Hybrid Services, the printer manufacturer\u2019s exclusive distributor in the region, will distribute the printer in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n
The new 3DUJ-2207 has many of the same functions as its predecessors, including 10 million color possibilities, water-soluble support and transparent resin, which can be used to print transparent parts or mix with colors to create items with different transparency. The biggest difference is the compactness of the machine. How compact? Small enough to be “installed in an office elevator”.<\/p>\n The print volume of the system is relatively small, 203 x 203 x 76mm (approximately 8 inches x 8 inches x 3 inches). In contrast, Stratasys\u2019 smallest inkjet printer J55 has a volume of 140 x 200 x 190 mm, while the J826 has a volume of 255 x 252 x 200 mm. These Stratasys machines each have less than 500,000 colors, not the 10 million colors Mimaki boasts. This may prove Mimaki’s ability as the first manufacturer of industrial 2D printers, and then the manufacturer of 3D printers.<\/p>\n Mimaki claims that it can achieve “twice the powder bed manufacturing method” color performance, it can be HP’s full-color Multi Jet Fusion, or 3D Systems and other companies’ full-color adhesive jet. In turn, Mimaki suggests, this “can accurately reproduce subtle color differences, which are essential for many industrial design applications such as medicine and architectural modeling.”<\/p>\n Danna Drion, senior marketing manager of Mimaki Europe, talked about the new version:<\/p>\n \u201cHere at Mimaki, we do not stop at developing disruptive technologies \u2013 we make it our business to look even further beyond this, continually striving to find ways in which we can then accelerate the adoption of these technologies and drive the wider industry forward. Our new 3DUJ-2207 3D Printer is a prime example of this. We had already raised the bar in 3D printing by delivering the world\u2019s first 3D printer with over 10 million colours \u2013 but now, with the introduction of our new 3DUJ-2207 3D Printer, we are bringing these 10 million colours to a host of new customers, which in turn means new applications and an even quicker uptake of 3D printing technologies as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n The new machine will be available in January 2021, which seems to be another bright spot for 2D printer manufacturers. The company has expanded to use Sindoh’s fuse manufacturing and large format glue dispensing technology similar to Massivit.<\/p>\n A few years ago, when HP began to please 3D printing with its own system, people began to suspect that other 2D printer manufacturers might turn to additive manufacturing. Although we don’t have many views on Epson, although the company has had preliminary discussions, Canon has explored 3D printing through distribution partnerships with 3D Systems and Materialize, and developed its own resin 3D printer concept.
