For scale modelers, 3D printing brings a new world. With 3D printing, you can:

  1. Create your own model rather than choosing from the limited models on the market.
  2. When parts are missing, you can easily get replacements, without having to throw the model away, and save a lot of money to buy a new one.
  3. Make limited/discontinued models more accessible by 3D scanning and 3D printing.

At present, desktop/hobbyist 3D printers are mainly FDM printers that have affordable prices, a wide selection of machines, simple settings, and easy access. However, for scale modelers, FDM printers may not meet their expectations.

You need to know the weakness that FDM 3D printers have before making the decision:

  1. For assembled printers, it’s hard to get everything in the correct setting. The problem happens easily and costs waste of filament, time and money.
  2. Hard to make overhangs.
  3. Poor detail performance, especially for small or tiny scale models.

However, industrial level 3D printers and professional technicians can make amazing outcomes.

  1. Professionals set up professional machines with guaranted printing quality.
  2. Industrial printers can print intricate/complex parts.
  3. Super high detail performance and accuracy.

Our recommendation:

Design a nice model and go to professional printing services like FacFox.

Modelers have to concentrate on design, assembly, and financing. And let the pros do the 3D printing with professional machines. That’s a lot better than buying an expensive machine and letting it collect dust between rare applications.
