About Project

One store of Starbucks ordered the 3-meter-long resin Siren as wall decoration. That green mythological creature occurred in the logo of Starbucks and the center of your coffee cups. It's a rare chance for us to see the whole body.
The siren is like a super mermaid. A mermaid with one tail is just a plain mermaid. But a siren is often depicted with two tails. She represents the hometown of Starbucks – Seattle, a port city – and indicates that coffee often travels long distances across the water to get to us.

Solution

  • Step 1: The designer cooperated with Starbucks sent us the 2D blueprint. Our designer built the 3D model based on the blueprint and adjusted the thickness and height until our client was satisfied.
  • Step 2: As the model is 3 meters long, too big for our large format SLA 3D printers, we split the model and print her upper body and tails separately. It’s also convenient for workers when they assemble the models onto the wall.
  • Step 3: Cut down the supports, rinse with IPA, post-cure with UV, and polish manually. Then, glue the prints onto the wall with superglue.
